Biography
Shahrzad Mirsoltani
Astronomy Educator, Researcher
From an early age, I had the privilege of receiving education at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, a prominent institution that has shaped the perspectives of young Iranians for more than half a century. The diverse classes I attended there fostered my creativity and curiosity, exposing me to various subjects in art, science, and Iranian culture. These experiences initially inspired me to consider a career in archaeology to explore Iran's rich heritage.
My educational journey continued at the Zaferanieh Educational Observatory, a key institution in Iran that educates young people about astronomy and space sciences. The profound impact of the education I received there inspired me to dedicate my life to discovering the wonders of the universe. This passion led me to choose mathematics and physics as my major in high school, and eventually, I entered university as a physics student. I developed a particular interest in studying exoplanets and discovering new worlds.
As I entered university, I felt a strong urge to make a significant contribution to astronomy and space sciences education and outreach. My involvement with the Iranian Astronomical Society revealed a crucial need for specialized astronomy education for children. This realization drove me to become an astronomy educator, focusing on promoting astronomy among young Iranians. Over time, my passion for astronomy education and outreach deepened, leading me to devote my career to this field.
By integrating my early interest in archaeology with my dedication to astronomy and education, I aim to create a comprehensive learning experience that connects various disciplines, from art to astronomy to Iran's ancient heritage. My ultimate goal is to foster a generation that values knowledge and curiosity. I firmly believe in the guiding principle: "Don't teach astronomy, teach humanity through astronomy."
